D×D INTENSIVES

A program that develops and supports collaborations between industry partners and institutions of higher education that serve historically excluded populations.

D×D Intensives: Fall 2022

Certificate of Completion

The participant served as a Mentor for the Fall 2022 DxD Intensives program, a collaboration between Delta Dental of California, the nation’s leading provider of dental insurance, and San Francisco State University, a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and home to the nation’s first College of Ethnic Studies.

Mentors spent the semester providing valuable guidance, feedback and collaboration to student participants. Serving as a professional touchpoint, Mentors nurtured student teams as they addressed key design challenges in project research, product capabilities, and user experience & accessibility.

Coursework in Fall 2022 centered around the topic: How might we redesign the Delta Dental Provider Search experience so that patients can find the Dentist that is right for their needs? The program provided student participants with mentorship from and collaboration with cross-function industry mentors; the beginnings of a professional network; and a fully applicable and transferable project for their portfolios.

DxD Intensives – which develops and supports collaborations between industry partners and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) of higher education – is a program of the Diversify by Design (DxD) coalition.
