Diversify by Design (DxD) welcomed our first student member, Vanessa Cuevas, to the coalition’s Advisory Council in February 2022. Four months later, she received her Bachelor of Science in Design: Visual Communications at San Francisco State University.

As the first student member of DxD’s Advisory Council, Vanessa brings a critical and fresh perspective to the coalition. During her time at SFSU, Vanessa participated in the DxD Intensives program with Delta Dental. And while in school, she was a graphic designer for SFSU's Associated Students; a member of AIGA San Francisco’s Communications Committee; and co-led a group of students focused on decolonizing design. Vanessa continues to collaborate with students from both SFSU and UCSC on research surrounding meetings in Virtual Reality spaces.

We are lucky to have Vanessa join Impact Collaborative, DxD’s managing entity, as a Design Strategist / Multidisciplinary Designer. Through her work on DxD, she will bring her lived experience to bear on the coalition’s work of helping diversify the design industry.
